The History Of Genisoy
The MLO/GeniSoy Story MLO roots stretch back to the early 1960’s, when founder Millard Williamson, food chemist by trade and body builder by avocation, was asked by friends to develop an effective, good tasting weight-training bar. Fitness centers and nutrition retailers began clamoring for his formulation and soon what had begun as a weekend and moonlight pursuit grew into a burgeoning business based on high protein performance sports nutrition products and an impressive complement of privately labeled products.
In 1992, MLO was asked by a major international protein supplier to help develop a soy based protein bar to aid in research studies investigating soy’s health benefits. Soon after these benefits were substantiated, the first GeniSoy products were developed to bring the health benefits of soy to the world in a form that was convenient, economical and delicious. In 1999, the FDA stated that consuming 25 grams of soy protein per day as part of a low fat diet would reduce cholesterol and the resulting risk of heart disease.
