Torf "sausage" - a unique packaging that keeps our moor mud naturally fresh
Torf Moor Mud (BALNEO-Peat) is a fine grain natural moor mud suitable for therapeutic bath or body treatment, such as wraps, body packs or poultice and even facials. Moor Mud contains numerous active organic substances and excessive heating or inappropriate storage result in loss of therapeutic properties. Heating it to the temperature over 120°F destroys its catalytic properties, and over 175°F causes big loss of therapeutic properties, due to disturbing biological structures. Therefore it is essential to keep Moor Mud naturally fresh and without any preservation to maintain its therapeutic value (such as pasteurization, drying or chemical additives).
Torf has developed a unique packaging to enable our moor to stay naturally fresh by packaging moor mud into 250 mililiter (8.5 oz) sized in plastic tubes, often lovingly called "sausages" by our customers. This size is enough for typical home bath or one full body treatment.
While it might look strange at first, this packaging offers many benefits:
# keeps moor mud naturally fresh and potent for more then a year
# practically eliminates cross-contamination that is common with use of large bucket containers
# the plastic packaging takes less space in land fields than discarded backets or pails.

# Brush the paste on the body in an even layer starting from the feet up.
